THE CHANGING NATURE OF WORK The nature of work has changed rapidly in the post-industrial era causing new production forms and labor processes to evolve. As a result of this transformational process in work related organizational systems, increasingly researchers have shown growing interest in studying the changing structure of work, labor processes, workplace conditions and job performance. The majority of those studies focused on analyzing critical post-industrial transformations in work, workers, and workplace experiences, assessing the implications of those changes on workers within the organizational system and their performace outcomes. Those studies arguabley concluded that employment has become more complex, adaptive, unpredictable, and intensive in nature. In this context the International Journal of Social Inquiry (IJSI) is pleased to announce a special issue that focuses on the changing nature of work, the transformation of workplace operating systems and labor processes. While empirical papers are strongly encouraged, theoretical and conceptual contributions that address issues arising from the debates surrounding the changing nature of work are particularly welcome. Contributors may choose such topics; · The impact of globalisation process on work performance · Technological developments and workplace innovation · The changing structure of workplace behaviour · The changing nature of employer and employee relations · Skilling and deskilling debates · The effects of changing forms of work on individual character · Changing nature of work and alienation · New forms of workers’ coping strategies · Changing class and occupation forms · Decentralisation of work and work systems · The future of work place operating environments · Leadership and Generational performance The details for submission of manuscripts are available on the Journal website at http://www.socialinquiry.org/manuscriptguidelines.asp The papers for this edition are due by the 15th of August, 2011 .
